It's Good to be Alive (Spinning Profile & Playlist)

There's a HUGE difference between being a alive and just living.  Okay, so technically they're the exact same thing, but philosophically there's a huge difference.

Being alive includes a zeal for for life.  Grabbing the proverbial bull by the horns and riding it for all it's worth (I've done that by the way).

So I've got a very dear friend that fell into the fitness industry kind of like I did, just coincidentally.  She lost a lot of weight, got in
great shape, started her own fitness studio, and then was so afraid of getting injured that she actually let it hold her back from being alive.  I pointed it out to her, what's the point of getting into shape if you can't do anything with it.  That simple statement was all the perspective she needed, and the next thing I knew she was signed up to do her first Tough Mudder event with me.

Now I'm not telling you to go out and do a Tough Mudder, but I am saying don't be afraid to be alive and live life to the fullest extent that you can.  Life is short, Play hard!

So here is my plans to play hard this summer:
  • Race for the Cure 5K (Koman Foundation)
    • Running this with my two oldest daughters.  That should be fun!
  • TriFit Challenge
    • This is my 1st triathlon.  It's a sprint length so it should be fine as long as I don't drown.
  •  Mud Ninja
    • This is a M.O.B. run that benefits autism.
    • M.O.B. stands for Mud, Obstacles, and Beer.
    • I actually did break my leg during this event last year but I'm not letting that hold me back.
  • Tough Mudder
    • This will be my 2nd Tough Mudder.  I failed to do one last year because of the broken leg I got from Mud Ninja.
    • I will be running this with my oldest daughter who just turned 18.  The minimum age for this event.

So are you alive or letting something hold you back?

Spotify users:  A couple of these songs are not yet available on Spotify.  Here's the first one by Imelda May called "It's Good To Be Alive".  The 2nd one isn't even available on YouTube yet, but you can pre-order it from iTunes (it's scheduled for release on May 5th).  Great Climbing tune...1312 Overture.  (and no I'm not going to tell you how I got my hands on it before it was released.)
